About Emma

Emma Hall

Emma is passionate about working together with each client to achieve their personal best, whether this involves performance enhancement, overcoming adversity, eliciting behaviour change, or addressing mental health or wellbeing issues. Emma is the Director of Vashti Performance Services, established in 2003. She has competed at state level in swimming, athletics and volleyball, so has first hand experience in overcoming challenges. She is a registered psychologist through AHPRA, and a member of the Australian Psychological Society, and the College of Sport and Exercise Psychologists.

Emma completed her Masters in Applied Psychology at Victoria University before working in the Performance Psychology Department at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. During this time she worked with a wide range of athletes and coaches across various sports, and travelled domestically and internationally to present sport psychology seminars and workshops. Her role included performance enhancement, crisis intervention, and general counselling. Since returning to Melbourne she has continued work in sport and exercise and also worked in a variety of other areas of psychology including depression and anxiety, stress management, sleep disorders, behaviour change, crisis support, and drug and alcohol programs.

Her primary approaches comprise cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT; mindfulness based). Aside from providing individual counselling, Emma consults to a number of sporting bodies and provides group workshops and seminars. She also consults to corporate clients in career transition, sport, fitness, health, and wellbeing areas, including corporate health and high performance. She is a former lecturer at Victoria University and former facilitator of the Life! Type II Diabetes Prevention Program run through Diabetes Victoria. Emma is registered with specialist endorsement with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, and is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She has membership of the APS College of Sport and Exercise Psychologists, and is a Victorian committee member.
